5 Beauty DIY Products for Quarantine + Grey Coverage

First off, I have to almost chuckle at the title. Who knew this would even be a thing! Beauty DIY products for…QUARANTINE? Seems almost like I’m living in a bad movie, except it’s a horror movie. I’m trying to be positive and distract myself with different things. This week I need to focus on my grey (or is it gray) roots since my hair appointment will be cancelled next weep. I mean week. A little Freudian slip there 😉

Beauty DIY for Hair

Grey Coverage

I was blessed with grey hair at a young age, said no one ever. This unfortunately is the case for me. I’ve been using different products throughout the years to cover my roots and I’ve narrowed it down to a couple I use on a regular basis. My favorites are any spray with a nozzle and I don’t mind the pen either. The powder is a little trickier to use and doesn’t seem to mask as well as the pen and spray. My tip for application is to use a rat tail comb and place that on your hair line. Spray over the comb. This way you won’t get it on your scalp! Also, if you are using the WOW powder, I spray my roots with hairspray first. This creates a sticky base and allows the product go on a little thicker.

Hair Mask

One of our favorite hair treatments is Olaplex Hair Perfector No. 3. I first heard the buzz on this product about a year ago. It has a bond-building technology, which relinks the broken disulfide bonds caused by chemical, thermal, and mechanical damage to the hair. It is a little expensive, so it took me awhile to take the plunge and finally try it. I’m so glad I did. I now use the treatment, shampoo, and the leave in conditioner on a regular basis.

The treatment is my favorite. Once a week I shampoo my hair and then towel dry it. I add the product to my hair, comb through and leave in overnight. Rinse out the next morning. My hair is always noticeably moisturized after. A keeper. My hair also grows like hot cakes. A good and a bad problem to have. It might be from the Olaplex, but I think it has more to do with the collagen I drink.

Beauty DIY for Nails

At Home Nails

I tried sticker nails awhile ago and they work great! I’m not much of a ‘nail’ person overall, but these are fun to wear, especially if you are trying to bide time until you can get your nails done again. Soon, my friend, soon.

Side Note: Every time I hear the word “sticker,” I think of this YouTube video. Ha, ha!!

Beauty DIY for Skin

Face Mask

Since we all seem to have extra time at home, it’s a great time for all the things we typically don’t have time for. While your hair mask is ‘baking,’ add your face mask. My daughter and I really like both the GLAMGLOW masks, as well as the rubber masks from Dr. Jart. Check out our review of the rubber mask here.

This GLAMGLOW mask has 5k reviews and is an Allure award winner. It’s great for blemish prone, oily, and combination skin. Charcoal is a hot beauty product right now. I also use charcoal to brush my teeth once a week, as well as using it as a supplement every once in awhile to eliminate toxins from my body.

Dermaplaning Tool

You are seeing this everywhere these days. I’ve had a silk peel with a dermaplaning service and my skin looked and felt amazing after. For me, I can’t be running to the salon to get this done on a regular basis, so I need to find ways to do it myself. Is it the same? Probably not. Is it close? Close enough for me, especially for the price. If I can get rid of dead skin and extra peach fuzz for under $5, I’m in.

Once I receive my new order, I will do a quick tutorial on how to use them, but in the meantime, start with dry, clean skin. Scrape upward in sections with small strokes. You can shave off your eyebrow if you aren’t careful, so maybe avoid that area until you’ve tried it a few times. Don’t use this in the shower. Use it 1-2 times per week and use a new razor each time.

These hair removal products will not make you grow a beard. Trust me. I’ve been doing it for awhile now and I actually have less hair. Lately, I’ve been watching some influencers and dermatologists actually shave their skin with their husbands razor. I’m not quite there yet. EEKS!

Check out some other hair care products we use here as well as another great way to remove hair when you can’t get to the salon to wax.

Staying at home with my kindergartener has my hair turning gray! All joking aside, I have noticed that it is starting to show through. I’ll have to check out the Magic Root cover up!

  2. I have never tried this type of root coverage before. But I did just dye my own hair this past weekend. It is so annoying! But it had to be done. Thanks for sharing these products and joining my link party.

  4. I had no idea those root products existed. I had to cancel my April hair appointment and I’m keeping my fingers crossed for May! I just ordered a hair dye kit from Amazon and did my roots with my daughter’s help. It turned out ok.
