This time of year is my favorite. Maybe I say that about all seasons but I do really love the renewed feeling that comes with Spring. It’s the best time to freshen everything up. Create a space you’ll love to lounge in and for me it starts with spring cleaning for a summer porch update! Sadly we didn’t go on an amazing trip for Spring Break this year. Damn you, Covid! I’m not entirely sad about it because the family and I checked so many things off the long list of things that needed to be done at home. Like purging, cleaning, fixing steps, and painting.
One of my biggest to-do’s int he spring cleaning project was to clear off the hay from my porch. Yes, you read that right, hay! During Covid we haven’t been able to get the steady delivery of hay for our mules at the ranch. Because…we live on an island. So we stored the excess on our front porch. It always sounds like a great idea to live on an island…..until you live on an island. It’s these kinds of things no one considers.
In the midst of my spring cleaning madness, I realized our porch could use a little update. So I got to work on my own inspiration boards. Here’s one. Now back to that whole Island thing. I can’t actually get any of these items because they don’t ship here. Boohooo. World Market used to be my favorite place to shop when I lived in Florida. Oh the hours I spent there! The food, the decor…all of it! I miss so much!
Porch Details
- There are a few variations of wicker chairs at different retailers but I really fell in love with these.
- A faux plant is best for people like me who struggle to keep the real ones alive.

- And this rug indoor/outdoor blush and green (those are our colors!) adds the right amount of pattern.
- I’m all about the neutral throw pillows lately.
