Valentine’s Day Cocoa Bar

The weather is still a little cooler in February (yes, even in Hawaii) so the kids and I enjoy a cocoa bar to celebrate Valentine’s Day together. We use the same Christmas time recipe from All Recipes.

Creamy Hot Cocoa Ingredients

  • 1/3 unsweeted cocoa powder
  • 3 1/2 Cup Organic Milk
  • 3/4 Vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/2 C half and half cream
  • 3/4 sugar

Bring water to a boil, in the meantime combine cocoa powder, sugar and salt. Add this mixture to the boiling water. Bring this mixture to an easy boil while you stir. Stir constantly for about 2 minutes. I turn down the heat then stir in the milk and heat thoroughly but not a boil. Remove from heat then add vanilla. Add the cream to the drink at the end.

It seems that we carry over a lot of our Christmas treat traditions to Valentine’s Day. I use this recipe and just change up those sprinkles!

Toppings

  • Valentine sprinkles of course
  • Small marshmallows
  • and the cute red and white straws to stir it all up

This is a great summer blues (in a good way) look for your summer porch or outdoor patio! Granted the items are a splurge but they are built to last.
