Mother, Daughter Day

Living in Hawaii provides beauty at every turn. Usually people think of the clear blue ocean waters and the beautiful white sandy beaches. But its so much more. On Oahu we have the Ko’olau mountains and they are so breathtaking there are really no words. I know I’ve shared the fact that we have mules but we also live on a postage stamp sized lot in town so we have to board them at a stable. Basically this is their view every single day. I’m kinda jealous they’ve got a better set up going on than we do. I would be happy to pitch a tent and camp out next to their stable to wake up to it each day.

Speaking of camping? How cute is The Hele Cart?? I recently discovered Cocolani Gardens in Waimanalo, Hawaii. By accident I realized they were located not far from our mules. They were having a cute collaboration with a few other women and luckily I caught the last appointment for this photo shoot. I love you Instagram stories! Cocolani did the gorgeous florals, The Hele Cart provided their camper and Alicia Marie took the photos. It was the perfect opportunity to have a Mother Daughter day!

When they say the years go by fast they aren’t kidding! I blinked and she is now taller than me. Just like that! AND Brandi is officially an empty nester! How is that possible! It seems like Brandi and I were 16 years old ourselves, driving into that popular party town with our big hair in a Volkswagen Rabbit (we honestly barely fit in the car with the heights of our hair…no joke!) That’s why its important to remind ourselves often just how fleeting these moments are with our children and to savor every bit of it that we can.

All that said, we realized between both of us we had nothing to wear for this fun day. For good reason! What did we do during Quarantine lock down? We purged big time! Our closets are pretty sparse and that nagging “oh shoot…why did I get rid of that dress” came flooding over both of us. Ugh, it’s okay, it felt better to get rid of all that dead weight. But seriously, we still needed something to wear. Where do you shop when nothing is QUITE open yet. TARGET! We ran over to Target before the photo shoot and grabbed these two dresses and if you’re avid Target shoppers like us, you probably know their dressing rooms were closed to Covid. So we took a chance that these two ensembles would work. I tried to keep in mind the florals and backdrop and of course the overall aesthetic.
