Guacamole Recipe – Add Some Fun to your Fiesta

Add some fun to your festivities any time with this healthy and delicious guacamole recipe. It will become your quick and easy go to recipe.

Festive Guacamole

  • 2-3 avocados – I use two
  • 2 roma tomatoes
  • 2 cloves of garlic minced
  • 1.5 tsp cumin
  • 1.5 tsp chili powder
  • 1 lime
  • Handful of cilantro (don’t use too much or it will overpower the dip)
  • Red onion diced – I usually use a little more than half the onion
  • ½ jalapeno pepper seeded and diced-save a couple seeds to add
  • A pinch of cayenne pepper
  • Dash of salt
  • Add bacon or other ingredients you love; however this will no longer be a vegan dish

*you can substitute other herbs for cilantro (basil is good) or try Rotel for the tomatoes and/or jalapeno depending on what kind you get

How to Make Festive Guacamole

First, cut open the avocados, take out the pit, and use a spoon to scoop out the meat. Put that in the food processor. Next, cut open the lime and squeeze the lime juice using a citrus press on top of avocados. After that, slice open the tomatoes and scoop or squeeze out the middle. Dice up and add to food processor. Next, mince garlic, dice onions and jalapeno (after you take out the rib and seeds; save a couple to add for a little heat) and add these ingredients along with the rest of the spices to the food processor. Finally, take stems off cilantro and add.

Use at least a 6 quart food processor. Blend all ingredients to desired consistency.  In conclusion, let the flavors meld for a couple hours in the refrigerator. Store for 1-2 days tops. You can add or decrease spices to your liking.

Avocado Extras

  • An avocado is a fruit.
  • Also called an alligator pear because of its pear like shape and green skin.
  • How do you buy a ripe avocado? When it feels heavy for its size, gives a little when squeezed lightly, and is dark in color.
  • Keep an avocado from turning brown: Add a lemon or lime to a cut avocado. Keep pit in place and cover with plastic wrap.
  • Can I ripen an avocado? Yes. Put it in a brown paper bag and add an apple or a banana for 2-4 days.
