Chocolate Cherry Cookies

This has proven to be one of my favorites cookies to bake for my Valentines Day loves. They are just another spin on the Peanut Butter Blossoms, another favorite in our house. Let’s be honest, it doesn’t matter what kind of cookie it is, if it has a Hershey’s Kiss on the top it’s probably going to be a winner.

  • Bag of Hershey’s Kisses
  • 1 Cup Confectioners Sugar
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 Cup of Butter
  • 2 tbsp juice from Maraschino Cherries (most recipes call for less but I like them to have a little more cherry flavor)
  • 1 tsp almond extract
  • 3/4 Cup Maraschino Cherries (chopped)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • (Optional) 4-6 drops of food coloring

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

First I beat the butter and confectioners sugar then add the almond extract and maraschino juice. Slowly begin to add the flour with 1/2 tsp salt. At the end gently stir in the the cherries.

Roll into balls about an inch. Place on baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes or until the bottom becomes a golden tan color. Once you take them out of the oven, immediately press a Hershey’s kiss into the center of each of the cookies.
