Even though I’m a coffee lover to the core, every now and then I like to switch things up with a quick Maca Latte. Coffee will always be my true vice, but I know and can feel the negative affects of too much caffeine, and that’s why it’s nice to switch to this little energy enhancer.
What is Maca?
Maca is a medicinal plant that grows mainly in the high plateaus of the Andes Mountains in central Peru. It’s vegetable relatives are broccoli, kale, radish, cabbage and cauliflower. I would not have guessed that.
Some of the ailments Maca is used for are:
- Anemia (that’s me)
- Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (and that too)
- Female Hormone imbalance (um, yeah)
- Improving Fertility (please, no!)
- Osteoporosis (could very well be in my future)
- Depression
- Lukemia
That’s just to name a few. But does it work?
As of now there is not enough information or studies to support how and if Maca works. However, it is known to be rich in Vitamin C, Copper and Iron.
Maca is a Bio-Available Endocrine System Support, nutrient-dense root with adaptogenic and antioxidant properties. All of the good stuff.
Moon Juice Maca is a good stress manager, mood enhancer and also claims to support healthy sexual energy and libido because it’s an energizing aphrodisiac.

I actually didn’t know what maca really was…I thought it was related to mushrooms and I’m allergic to those! Your comment after improving fertility made me laugh 🙂
