20 Items to Get Herb Garden Ready This Summer

It’s almost summer, which means it’s time to get your herb garden ready. I love the smell of fresh herbs and it’s so fun to cook with them. I enjoy walking out to my patio when I need fresh basil for my potatoes or rosemary for a salad dressing and as a bonus, they look really pretty.

How I Use My Herbs From My Herb Garden

  • Basil = Potatoes, bruschetta, guacamole, + salads (remember not to refrigerate your basil since it doesn’t like the cold)
  • Rosemary = Potatoes, steak, + salad dressings
  • Mint = Ice cream, drinks, + salads
  • Cilantro = Any Mexican dish
  • Dill = Fish + coleslaw

Salad Dressing Recipe

Here’s a salad dressing I make on a regular basis. Mix in a mason jar and store in your refrigerator for up to five days. For other recipes, click here.

  • 3/4 cup olive oil – regular or flavored
  • 1/4 cherry wood balsamic vinegar (I go through bottles of this stuff)
  • One lemon + some zest
  • Tablespoon dijon mustard
  • 3-4 pieces of garlic
  • Fresh herbs, mainly rosemary
  • Salt + Pepper

We’ve included some of the items we use to get our herbs ready for the season, along with a wreath which is selling out fast. I just purchased mine and there were only nine left on Amazon and Target just sold out. It would look really pretty on a raised garden bed. Finally, don’t forget your leaf blower to keep your area looking neat. Here’s to getting your herb garden ready. Cheers!

Oh it always looks so appealing to me but I hate the digging in sole! Haha, but I do love herbs, so perhaps I should start with a tiny piece in my garden!
